This guide will walk you through the key functionalities of the WooCommerce UPS Shipping Plugin, including real-time shipping rates, label printing, and shipment tracking. This document is intended for users who already have the plugin installed and configured. If you need assistance with setup, please refer to our Setup Guide for WooCommerce UPS Shipping Plugin.
Real-Time UPS Shipping Rates
The WooCommerce UPS Shipping Plugin automates the process of fetching shipping rates directly from UPS. Instead of manually checking shipping costs for each order, the plugin retrieves and displays real-time shipping rates at checkout based on the shipping address provided by the customer.
- A customer selects products and proceeds to checkout.
- The customer enters their shipping details.
- The plugin sends the provided address information to UPS.
- UPS returns a list of available shipping services along with their respective rates.
- The customer can select their preferred shipping method before completing their purchase.
This ensures that customers always see the most accurate and up-to-date shipping costs based on their location.
Generating and Printing Shipping Labels
With the WooCommerce UPS Shipping Plugin, you can generate and print UPS shipping labels directly from your WooCommerce dashboard without visiting the UPS website.
- Navigate to the Orders section in WooCommerce.
- Select the order for which you want to generate a shipping label.
- Click the Confirm Shipment button.
- The plugin will generate a UPS shipping label using the order’s shipping details.
- Click Print Label to download and print the generated label.
For international shipments, the plugin will also generate the required invoice automatically.
Tracking Shipments
Tracking shipments with UPS is seamless, as the plugin automatically assigns tracking numbers to each shipment and makes them accessible within WooCommerce.
- Once a shipping label is generated, a tracking ID is assigned to the order.
- This tracking ID can be found in the UPS Shipment Tracking section of the order details.
- Click Save/Show Tracking Info to retrieve real-time tracking updates.
- The tracking number is automatically included in the order completion email sent to the customer.
Note: Tracking information is available only in the live environment. If using the test mode, tracking details will not be displayed as they require a valid UPS tracking number.
Marking Orders as Complete
Once a shipment is confirmed and the label is printed, the final step is to complete the order in WooCommerce.
- Go to WooCommerce > Orders.
- Select the order you wish to complete.
- In the Order Status dropdown menu, change the status to Completed.
- Click Save Changes.
Marking the order as completed ensures that the customer receives their order confirmation along with the tracking details.
By following these steps, you can efficiently manage shipping with UPS, saving time and ensuring accurate shipping rates, labels, and tracking for your customers. For more details on additional features and troubleshooting, refer to our WooCommerce UPS Plugin Support Page.
